Decorative obstacles
A practical guide to choosing, using and storing this type of hobby horse obstacle. Individual products differ; this is not a competition standard.
What this category includes
Coloured planks, lightweight fillers, themed stands and decorations make obstacles recognisable on a course. This is a visual category rather than one technical design; similar decoration can conceal very different structures.
Structure first
Identify the pole, the filler and what happens when either is touched. Decoration should not hide supports or obstruct movement. Do not turn an ordinary tall box into a jumping wall for appearance alone.
For a home course
Start with one clearly visible element and retain enough clear space. For photos or home play, decorating the stands may be enough without changing the working obstacle. Height remains a separate decision.
How to store it
Compare assembled and packed dimensions. Check decorative-panel fixings, moisture resistance and replacement parts. Keep small removable decorations together in separate storage.
